Happy Easter!

Pinned Image

Happy Easter! Jesus Christ is Alive! and he has blessed me with so much. The fact that he gave his own life in a torturous way, so that I could live, is absolutely incredible. I hope this Easter Sunday you remember the true meaning of Easter, and that maybe you consider inviting Jesus into your life if you haven't already. {I'd love to tell you more if you want}

In Christ,

Guest Post // Tola Ferris

 Hello Readers! Today I'd like you to Welcome Tola Ferris. She is the talented girl behind the blog: A New Beginning, and she has prepared this wonderful guest post for you today. Thank you so much Tola, and happy adoption anniversary!!{I guess that's what you would call it right?}
                                   --------------------------------------------------------------------

Bonjour ladies and gents I’m Tola Ferris. The blogger behind A New Beginning. Emma asked me to tell a little about my book, which is such an honor to me. Thank you Emma.

Background:

The day I was adopted -

Fifteen years ago (Today to be exact) I was adopted from Cambodia in my sixth year. I did not know nor understand that I was being adopted. A few days later I was flying half way around the world to the country of America. A place where I had heard that everything was made out of gold. I soon discovered my school taught me wrong, but the land was rich with unique and fascinating people.

As the years passed, I would think back to home country, and run through the memories in my mind. When I was sixteen, I decided to write down all my memories of my past so that I would never forget them. The next thing I knew, I had two full journals. My father saw what I was doing, and surprised me by finding an agent who would publish my book. A year later, my book was published.

Inside the book:

I grew up in a house built on stilts near the edge of the jungle. My days consisted of exploring, eating fruits, bugs, climbing trees, and contemplating. I spent many hours alone, and my parent’s didn’t worry if I didn’t come home. Thus I became a very independent child, but I also desired the affections that parents gave to their children. Sadly, my parents didn’t care as much about me as they did for my little brother. I was pretty much invisible unless they needed something done.

Military men drove up, and down the road in front of my house. There was always the constant sound of gunfire at night as I tried to sleep. I told myself that one day I would follow the tanks and see where they led. I had no idea that my country was still recovering from a very tragic battle, and that every single day that I walked through the jungle, I could have died from land mines. God was watching over me from the very beginning. I had never heard about God, but in my heart, I knew there had to be a greater being out there. Someone watching over me, because I felt quite lonely at times.

One day for my very own protection, my parents sent me away to be adopted. A man on a motorcycle took me into the city, where I discovered that my world was much, much bigger than I could even perceive.

I stayed with a French family for a few weeks, then the motorcycle man came again taking me to the orphanage where I stayed for three months and was adopted. Then I discovered the meaning of family, and finding that God had a much bigger purpose for me. He protected me from death so many times.

To sum it all up:

Now that I am twenty-one, I would love to go back, and teach the gospel to the people of my town. You can visit my blog and purchase my book, or help support me on my mission trip or just get to know more about me. I love getting to know people, now that I finally moved past my shyness.

Thank you Emma for having me, and have a blessed day everyone.

Sincerely,

Tola Ferris @ A New Beginning

                   Day # 16 // What's your biggest Accomplishment?
                 --------------------------------------------------------------
Uh, I've only been living for like fifteen years....so I don't have any huge accomplishments.
But, I guess if I had to choose one, it would probably be winning the Fine Art Festival art competition. That was pretty exciting :D

                                            -------------------------------------------------------------
Well, I don't actually have an ipod...or an mp3 player, or anything like that. {pretty sad uh?} But I imagine if I did, I would probably have a little B. Reith, Anthem Lights, Capital Kings, and some other stuff. I just know that it would probably be VERY varied. :D (does that make sense?)

31 Day Blog Challenge // Day # 13 - Do You Have Regret?

Day # 13 // Do you have any regret?
                       ------------------------------------------------
Yeah, I do actually. I know I can't change anything that happened in the past, but sometimes I wish I could. There are things that I've said and done that I regret. But, at the same time, they tuaght be valueble lessons that I would've had to learn some way or another. So there's my take on Regret. It's bitter sweet, and when you are reminded of those things in your past, you think of the things you should have done. So that next time, hopefully you'll use what you have learned, and fix what could have been a problem.

Day # 12 // Something that you miss
                              ---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Right now I am really missing Summer. I miss being able to go outside in my shorts and bare feet. I miss the sunshine. At the moment, it's raining outside. It's muddy, cold, and wet. Not fun. At all!
So that's what I miss. I miss my favourite season, Summer.

Cranberry Crumble Bars // Recipe

Hey-o! Today I have a really yummy, easy, and healthy recipe to share with you. And, my 6 yr. old sister even said she liked them better than chocolate! So I was pretty impressed with myself.

For these bars, you'll need a blender, a glass (rectangular) dish, and these five ingredients:

2 cups of  Dried Cranberries
1 cup of Peanut Butter (I used organic)
1/2 cup of Almonds (preferably sliced)
1/2 cup of Coconut
and whatever other seeds & nuts you have!
Seriously, just throw it all in the blender, and whatch it blend...

You may or may not need to add more peanut butter depending on how dry it is. But, your final product should be kind of squishy and, well, I don't really know how to describe it. So I guess you'll just have to see for yourself!

Next you'll want to take out your glass dish, and press down the mixture into the bottom of it. You might want to take out a rolling pin to help squish it down, pat it down as firmly as you can, then put it in the fridge for aboout 30 minutes.

Then you can take it out of the fridge, and cut it into bars. I wrapped my bars up seperately in parchment paper (see above), but if you don't have that much time to waste, you can always take out the box of zip-loc bags. What ever works! You will probably find that they are pretty crumbly, so what you can also do is use them as a crumble topping for yogurt. Seriously, they are really good! I recieved thumbs up from all of my siblings. But if you aren't a fan of cranberries, you could always substitute with raisins, dried apercots, etc. And the great thing with this recipe is that you can add whatever nuts and seeds you want!

Well, please let me know if you try these. I'd love to hear how yours turned out.
Sorry if my instructions were hard to understand...

Thanks for reading,
Emma-lee

                                    --------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, so I wrote a post with my 2013 bucket list a while ago here. And well, there are just way too many things to list that I want to do before I die. So you can just read that list, and be happy. Maybe someday I'll write a full out life list.

Have a great Saturday!

Happy Birthday Wesley!

Today my favourite brother Wesley (or as I call him, Chookey) is 2 years old today!!! (and for the record, I only have one brother, so he is therefore my favourite)
Man, he is so cute, and I love him to death. His little underbite, and his long eyelashes! Oh gosh, he's just adorable. And so silly! He runs all over the place, and just loves going for "av" (atv) rides with Daddy. I am so thankful to have a brother like him. I mean, just look at that face! We're going to have a hard time keeping the girls away :b

31 Day Blog Challenge // Day #8 - Pet Peeves

Day # 8 // Biggest Pet Peeve
----------------------------------------------
Biggest pet peeve?? Well, I have quite a few...

1. The fonts Comic Sans, and Curlz. Ugh! They just scream, "Not professional! We were too lazy to pick a nice classy font so we used one of the most commonly used fonts ever!". Man, it bugs me soooo much. Especially when my own Mother uses Comic Sans on her business cards....*grimace*

2. The word Tarter. You hear it at the dentist when they clean your teeth, but then you can go buy it at the grocery store! I just don't get it! I go to the dentist, and the hygienist tells me whenever I have some tarter (or plaque. But, I think she prefers to use the word tarter just to annoy me...) on my tooth, and that I need to brush my teeth better in that place. Then I open my cupboard and find a can of...wait for it...CREAM OF TARTER!!! it's haunting me I tell you!

3. Cats. A literal, "Pet" peeve. Now most of you probably already know this, but I absolutely hate cats. Now, I wouldn't like murder a cat or anything, but I would never ever own a cat. I'm allergic, and they always seem to stare at me in a really creepy sorta way. I tell you people, there is a reason someone wrote this book.

4. Bathroom fans. The ones that turn on when you turn on the light, and you have no other choice but to go pee in the dark!!!! It's terrible I tell you. They are very annoying contraptions, although I must admit that they do come in handy after you leave the washroom (or when another certain family member does).

Alrighty, well that was fun. I've been meaning to do a post like this :b
I hope you enjoyed reading! What are your pet peeves?

31 Day Blog Challenge // Day 7

Day #7 What's your Dream Job?
-------------------------------------------------
My dream job would probably be doing what this girl does. Being a graphic designer, and photographer, and combining the two for helping artists or bands with the artwork for their albums. Does that make sense? Because I think that would be so super awesome!

see ya,
